Call to Worship
From the Book of Revelation
Dear brothers and sisters, Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. He loves us and he has freed us from our sins by his blood. He has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father. To him be glory and power for ever and ever!
He says, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.”
Alleluia. Christ is risen.
The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever.
Portions adapted from the Book of Common Prayer
Let us pray.
O God, you made this most holy morning to shine with the glory of the Lord’s resurrection. Stir up your Church to new life.
O mighty one, let the power which raised Jesus from the dead empower us also, so that we might witness boldly for our risen Lord.
O glorious one, fill us with your Holy Spirit and make us eager to serve each other in love.
O eternal one, give us your heart of mercy and make us more like our living savior every day, as we await the day of his appearing in final victory.
Make us new in body, mind and spirit, so that we may worship you in spirit and in truth, this day and every day, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
