Holy God, loving Father of all humankind,
We gather tonight as the Army Corps of Engineers family – the young and the old; the uniformed and the civilian; the well and the wounded; the veterans and the retirees; the graybeard elder statesmen and the leaders of tomorrow; the husbands and wives; the widows and widowers; the builders of our nation in peace, and the bulwark of our Army in war.
We are grateful for all the men and women who have worn the castle on their collar, for all those who have served in the corps and for all those who have supported the corps throughout the generations. Their sacrifices and devotion to duty paved the way for freedom, peace and prosperity for our nation – and for so many others.
May the example of those who came before us continue to inspire us.
Guide and protect our brothers and sisters who even tonight are deployed throughout the world, laying their lives on the line for the sake of others
Comfort the loved ones of those absent from our table.
May your strong hand ever rest on the United States of America.
And now I ask that you would bless this food to the nourishment of our bodies. Keep us ever mindful of your grace, and be present with us as we share these tables together.
